Until yesterday evening, I miraculously stumbled upon a certain site and--Thank God!--there they are, the ever evading Gintama mirrors that I've been searching for! Horaay!!! ^_^
You see, not everybody gets to see Gintama, and the lack of mirrors because of license reports make it worse. I have nothing against not supporting licensed media, in fact, I agree with the logic. However, not everyone in the world could access those licensed media.
Here in my country, there is no official licensed media distributor for animes, that's why fans settle for downloads, online streaming sites and pirated DVDs. For heaven's sake, if you make it licensed be sure you can distribute subtitled versions to the fans! People keep on banning the mirrors and say "Please support the licensed media," so easily. The problem here is the lack of said "licensed" media!
They ban Gintama mirrors because they're shown on TV, but I often miss the show on TV because my parents tune on AXN and my sister on Cartoon Network, Nickelodeon and DisneyChannel. How am I supposed to watch Gintama then. Moreover they air it DUBBED. The worst thing that could happen to anime is to get it dubbed! The voices change, the speech mannerism, the culture, sometimes even the character relations change (blame poor translation).
What's to say? Sub it dude, 'coz I can't understand it. People should know, with subs, you can understand what the characters are saying more precisely than dubs do. As a bonus, you learn Japanese language and culture! I don't hate people who prefer dubs because they have their reasons, but as much as possible, animes should be subbed for those who prefer watching it subbed--hey, less work for licensed distributors, right?
This is the problem of otakus who can only rely on the internet. Worse comes to worst, we could only be pushed so far to purchase pirated copies. Don't blame us, blame poor distribution. We have the money, we can buy. This is what my economics teacher said about high demand, low--or in my case, NO--supply.
To date, the search for the phantom Gintama mirrors remain frail. Who knows when the authorities would ban the few functioning mirrors?
Best solution: download 'em videos. Bwahahahaha!!!
